A Style Post – Autumn Leaves in Spring

Hey All,

My dear friend and fellow blogger Ms White Rabbit over at Quirky Fashion blog, invited me to stay at her rather gorgeous new home in Wicklow (complete with a heluva view of the Wicklow mountains), last weekend. I was on the N81 armed with a bag full of inappropriate clothing for country dwelling, before she’d put the phone down.

After a lazy Sunday morning of fresh coffee, and droolingover reading the latest Italian Vogue and other UK glossies, we decided to have a drive over to Russborough House… which wasn’t open. So after a tiny driving mishap while doing a U-turn (which I am forbidden to speak of) we decided to take my Trilby out for a stroll instead.

I thought the outfit came across a lot 90’s, (pretty grungy) a bit 70’s (see shoes) and a bit Topshop Unique SS11 (see the rust / red colours and the texture in the skirt). Shame I had to wear socks, but those steps were as cold as they look, and then some. I wish I wore watches more often, they’re such a classic accessory, this is a black python print one from Swatch.

On another note the White Rabbit and I are going head-to-head on a mood board challenge. More on this over the weekend… I’m excited.

Two days, Two outfits, One hat.

Dear Readers,

I wore my Hunter wellies the last two days and I have to say I really liked it. Puddles pah! No match for my rubberised feet! I’ve had enough now though… Sunshine please come back!

So the bank holiday was fun, of course. I wore this Trilby a lot. I was surprised by how many outfits it goes with and how it changes an entire look. The hat’s the thing it seems.

I was watching the Buddy Holly story and I remembered this 50’s style, vintage (80’s) tea-dress that I asked my Mum to alter for me. The sleeves came off, there was a big bow in the front and some massive shoulder pads that were hastily removed, and it was about a foot longer originally. It’s thrifted and cost about €8, I added the belt to cinch in the waist to give it a bit more shape.

The bracelet on my left arm is actually a belt that I found in a charity shop. The sunglasses in the first pictures are my “Deirdre Barlows” from Dunnes.

Xx

Summer Hat Solutions

The best thing about summer fashion is hats. They either complete or completely change a outfit. One of the most versatile hats is the Trilby or Fedora. The difference being the width of the brim which generally smaller on a trilby and the back of the brim is more upturned. You can wear them with everything from your bikini on the beach or with wellies at a festival, with your jeans for strolling around town and by accessorising with flowers you can even wear it for a formal occasion. Each season the list of celebs wearing the Trilby/Fedora gets longer and the trend is still going strong.

There are plenty of styles available on the high street too,

I love the Philip Treacy one but I think I’ll be settling for the super pretty Helene Berman one!
