A Style Post: Heart Print Shirts & Leather Skirts

Hi All! 🙂

I bought a Burberry-inspired, heart print shirt. The trend exploded at the end of the summer, when everyone from Harry Styles to Clare Danes was wearing a version. I didn’t buy a designer one, mine’s from Topshop. I have a soft spot for a good shirt, and I’ve worn this one so much it has started piling. 😦 Sad times. It hasn’t stopped me wearing it, I went for a walk around central London on Sunday; I adore the City, Fleet Street and all around St. Paul’s on Sundays, it’s almost eerily quiet, most pubs are closed and there are very few people about.

It means you can wander around looking up at the architecture with a far smaller chance of bumping into an off-duty lawyer or banker, or stepping out in front of a taxi. It also means you can walk along from street to street and discover things you would normally miss on a busy week-day. Just off Fleet Street is a small alleyway, which leads to Temple Church.blogger street style london midi leather skirt heels heart print (6)

I love mixing high street fashion with vintage pieces. This leather bowling bag (M&S) is a little pop of colour and the gold buckles on the shoes (there are a lot of them) mirror the gold watch (ASOS) and vintage gold chain aceesories.

The Copy…

Cobalt blue was a big colour for Autumn/Winter ’12-’13; seen on catwalks at Lanvin, in the form of tailored wool shift dresses; at Sportmax in the form of loose silk trousers and matching shirts, and at Prabal Garung in the form of ultra-shiny slim, tailored trousers – note: models wore matching cobalt-coloured nail varnish. However, street stylers, bloggers, magazines and the high street have carried this trend through to Spring/Summer ’13.

Topshop’s silk high-waisted trouser suit (pictured €266) brings cobalt blue together with this season’s cropped trouser length. We associate blue with cooler colour tones but cobalt’s natural, rich pigment means it has warmth.

If you prefer your blue hues prettier and subtle there is a shade of blue for all tastes and skin tones. The Spring/Summer ’13 blues include other natural shades, like dusty cornflower and Provencal. Seen at Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy in floating fluttering frills; at Chanel in classic bouclé tweed and at Elie Saab, in dresses with sheer panels and shimmering, elegant ice blue lace.

AWear have translated the trend into this skater dress (pictured €65) in light blue tweed; while this Asos dress (pictured £150) teams pale blue lace with chic blue leather. Wear your spring/summer ‘13 blues with fiery gold accessories, nude nail varnish and open toed sandals. Perfect with bare, tanned summer legs, the key shoe style for this season is a high heeled, no-platform two-strap sandal.

Wear your cobalt blue, suit trousers above the ankle and embrace this shoe trend; you can’t go wrong flashing the flesh either side of an ankle strap. Penneys/Primark have the perfect, seriously comfortable pair (Pictured €15). I wore these to an awards ceremony last week and danced all night in them.

It might be a blue summer but this trend is red hot.

A Style Post: Country Tweed & Urban Heels

Hello All,

You know, I was just looking back through a few past posts and I’ve only just realised how much I comment on the weather; it really is a lot.

It’s probably something to do with the fact that our Northern European climate and its unpredictable weather dictates exactly what we wear… Maybe my references to it are just an excuse when I write style posts as to why I’m wearing what I’m wearing. i.e. when I sat down to write this post, the first thing I typed was something along the lies of bright sunny autumn days. A description which easily explains why I’m wearing layers, which are necessary for those kind of days.

I love this outfit. The layers keep it fashion-forward but also wearable. The boots and coat are set to be my autumn/winter 2012 staples; the Burberry cardigan, which I have had since last year, is a really loose knit so isn’t warm enough for the depths of winter, but it’s perfect for now.

A Style Post: Studded Leopard Print Slipper Shoes

Hey All,

I’ve waited long enough to get a pair and having finally chosen and ordered them, they arrived last week, my flat leopard-print slipper shoes. They couldn’t be more fashionably OTT if they had heels. Pony skin: check; Leopard print: check; all over spike studs, check, check check. I got them on line at long with the leather trim blazer. Sometimes I wonder if I bore you all with the same style; slim-fit trousers, a jacket/blazer, some sort of vest top, heels… I never get bored of those pieces, it’s just nice to mix them up with something a little special now and again. Right?

Keeping the outfit to a black/fawn colour pallet I carried this Kurt Geiger Perspex XL Pouch, it has a wrist strap and the inside purse is attached to the outside at the seams. It reminds me of that 70’s furniture, made from thick brown glass and highly polished chrome, nicely retro.

A Style Post: Pink Jeans and Leopard Print

Hello all,

As if you’re inside reading right now! Brightly coloured jeans are what summer is about. I like a slash of colour in an outfit but I usually leave it to just the one piece. However, having received my baroque / polka dot print shirt from Sheinside… (new love for on line shopping) I bit the bullet and went for all over colour.

As many of you know, I grew up in London, when i moved to Dublin five years ago, the first thing I noticed about Irish fashion was the vast colour pallette. Ok so in Dublin we still love an LBD or a classic black wool winter coat, but just walking down Dame Street there is so much colour. It took me a while to brave the colour myself, I was  happy to style-watch wearing the odd pop of blue or green. Now I feel brave enough, and what better place to show off my newly-colourised wardrobe, than my old home town?

Oddly, I hadn’t realised that I’d completely accessorized with black, ah well you can’t change everything all at once.

P.S Recognise any of the details in these photos…?

Banksy? Seen Lock Stock and two Smoking Barrells…? If you ever get the chance, taking a stroll around London Bridge to Borough Market and beyond is an amazing way to spend an afternoon.
