Irish Fashion Designer Sinead Doyle Autumn/Winter 2012 Look Book

Hello all…

I’ve been a fan of Sinéad Doyle for a while now. I have watched as her collections have grown and developed over the past couple of years (see A/W’11 here). That progression resulted in some exceptional details in last years autumn/winter collections. The use of sequins, pleats, woven leather and wool and silk corsetry made for a unique and ultimately wearable collection. Double lapels being my personal favourite, the delight was in the detail indeed.

Her A/W 2012-13, ‘Resurgence’ collection still has the details but the collection has taken a more sleek style. Structured jackets with chiffon sleeves, hoods and leather T.Shirts are key elements as are mixed textures and fabrics; namely knits and wool with leather and chiffon. Although in a mostly grey/black palette, the collection also includes some great, brightly printed separates in pink, gold and blue.

Knit and Leather Dresses.

Chiffon Sleeved Jacket

Coloured Prints

Mixed Textures

Irish fashion, or Irish designers are brave yet still manage to create beautifully wearable collections; inspiring many a keen eyed fashion blogger.

Louise Kennedy A/W’11

Hey All,

Standing in a Georgian Townhouse on Merrion Square, listening to Edith Piaf is a pretty great way to spend an afternoon. Doing that with a glass of Champagne, watching the Louise Kennedy Autumn/Winter 2011 fashion show, even better.

The collection is classic, luxurious, chic, elegant and retro. Most of the words you usually associate with Louise Kennedy collections, though the retro was definitely more emphasised this season. The 40’s and 50’s inspired pieces dominated the collection, with tweed jackets, fur collars and coats, long leather gloves and lace shift dresses.

River Island Christmas Showcase

So I have one thing to say when it comes to the pieces that River Island have in store for us this Christmas season, it’s so 90’s Dahling. Think Ab Fab and you have it.

All bright Versace-inspired prints, black velvet Lycra and body suits with sheer panels.

I was also given the chance to pick two pieces from the collection and photograph models on the roof of the Morgan Hotel in Temple Bar. I couldn’t not have the Spire on O’Connell street in the background could I?

The stretch velvet & lace body suit and the (tiny) jersey & lace mini dress. (Back photo above). Too 90’s; Too fabulous.

A|wear A/W’11 preview

Hey All,

A nice change to write about a preview relevant to the season for once. I went along to the A|wear Autumn / Winter 2011 preview today. A mix of textured 60’s & 70’s pieces in autumnal and jewel tones, means that A|wear is in-tune with the rest of the high street; (its lower price points being the thing that will pull in the shoppers).

Highlights Include, Faux Furs, Especially Black

Classic Tasselled Loafers

Textures, Prints and Chunky Knits

Patent Mary-Janes and 3-tone leather bag

For me the two real stand out pieces; grey cigarette pants with ‘leather’ trim to the waist line and pockets…

…and the green tweed jacket, with bow detail being my favourites.

Bow detail.

Irish Magazine Stellar’s Special Irish Issue

Hey All,

If you haven’t read it yet, Stellar have gone to town with their ‘Special Irish Issue’. It’s the kind of thing that makes me proud to be a part (albeit the smallest) of the fashion industry in Ireland. The features range from ‘Sexy has no size’ (where 6 Irish women ‘bare all’ and talk about their body confidence) to ‘Damn she’s got some wicked style’ (a look into the wardrobes of 6 Irish women – More on this later).

Two of my favourite Irish only features in this months issue, are ‘Stellar‘s Little Black Book’ –  a guide to eating, drinking and, most importantly, shopping in cities and towns all over Ireland; and ‘There’s no Place like Home’ – a beautiful editorial photoshoot, set against a backdrop of lush green fields; it features only Irish designers & shops. Here’s a couple of shots from the feature:- Including the genius moment that sees model, Blathnaid (Assets) sitting on a stone wall in a Matt Doody dress munching a packet of Tayto.

Dress, Eilis Boyle; Earrings, Merle O’Grady

Dress, Tim Ryan; Necklace, Merle O’Grady; Shoes, AWear

Dress, Matt Doody; Bracelet, Merle O’Grady; Shoes, Rockin’ Reptile

Top & Skirt, Umit Kutluk; Shoes, Fitzpatricks Shoes

Dress, Mia O’Connell; Belt, Una Burke (an incredible combination…)

Dress, Stephanie Grace Foy; Necklace, Rebecca Davis; Shoes, Rockin’ Reptile

Back to the wardrobes feature, myself along with 5 other women, including bloggers, Anouska Proetta Brandon and the gorgeous Becky Gray, were chosen to participate in the feature. Here’s my page:

Including such gems as… ‘I can’t live without leather trousers’ and ‘This season I’m loving…‘ I can absolutely confirm that I am perfectly capable of surviving without pleather clothes. As for the ‘I’m Loving… ‘ phrase, I can only apologise profusely and promise to try harder next time… Cringe.

Massive thanks to Stellar Magazine for asking me to come on board. It is amazing to be part of the issue!

Sinead Doyle A/W ’11

Hey All,

I just got sent the images from the new A/W ’11 collection from Irish designer Sinéad Doyle. The collection is called ‘Amalgamate‘ and combines ‘tailoring and corsetry with luxury silks and wools’. This use of luxury-fabric-on-luxury-fabric has created a tactile, wearable collection.

Going through the look-book images, what really stood out most from this collection were the details; woven leather panels, corsetry and structured tailoring,  lacing, sheer silk chiffon trousers, rose-pink silk maxi-skirts, and jacket details like double lapels and ticket pockets.

Woven Leather.

Wool & Silk Corsetry.

Silk Maxi.

Pleats & Sequins.

Leather Accents.

Double Lapels.
