BT2 & MSGM’s Spring Summer Fashion Trends

I have a feeling it’s all gonna be about BT2 this week! – This MSGM collections is pa ure summer colour injection.

First off, word is out that there a couple of new labels in store. The Victoria by Victoria Beckham line has landed. But I’m exceedingly (like a Mr. Kipling cake) excited about amazing Italian label, MSGM. If you like, South Pacific prints, leopard print, Paisley, fringing, vibrant neon colours and dresses that need should be worn in St. Tropez… here’s is a little peak at what the label has to offer for SS’12.

Sorry if I made you feel colder, just dream of tropical holidays! I know I am. 🙂

Penney’s (Primark) Spring Summer 2011 pieces

Hey All,

From one end of Irish fashion – Louise Kennedy, to the other; this time it’s the Penney’s /Primark SS11 collection. I have a very volatile relationship with Penney’s. One season you’ll find me in there once a week looking at the latest drop; the next I’ll avoid its crazed, bargain-hunting hordes like the proverbial plague.

Don’t get me wrong I frikkin love a bargain; plus, as far as manufacturing quality goes, Penney’s stuff seems to last longer than the average piece you’ll find at the fashion-forward end of the high street. But, there is only so much basic polyester a girl can handle. Texture is a huge part of fashion / style and rich natural fabrics really make or break an outfit.

Thing is, this new collection is all about new feel to fabrics; less, is the stiff chiffon and basic jersey, making way for new softer mixes of jersey and sheer fabrics. These fabrics feature throughout the two main stories; Heat Seeker and Global Traveller, as well as  the Limited Edition, the neon colour blocking and the new White collection.

A Style Post – Flowers and Florals

Hey All,

White and pink blossom, yellow Daffodils and purple crocuses, hazy sunshine long shadows and fresh-cut grass. I love when spring arrives. It also wants me to wear this shawl with its floral embroidery.

I have a park near my house that always has people in it; I ventured out on a much-needed walk, yesterday afternoon having dealt with a major laptop malfunction…

Tall Ships and Shades of Grey

Hey All,

You know sometimes when you just have a really great week? Enjoying being around genuinely good people and the like? Well that seems to have been the running theme of my week; So to all the people I ‘enjoyed’ in the last 7 days, cheers and thank you (loads!).

There was also a bit of a French theme thrown in as well. Bastille Day was Wednesday so that might have something to do with it. Anyway, I went to see The Concert on Monday; good grief that is one heck of a film. Melanie Laurent (Shoshanna Dreyfus, Inglourious Basterds) is in it. Nuff said? Yeah, nuff said. If you don’t mind subtitles and Tchaikovsky have a think about seeing this one on the big screen. It ‘s beautiful.

I also went to the French Market by the Samuel Beckett Bridge. I saw the bridge for the first time about a fortnight ago and I was actually dumbfounded. I love it. I was like, I gotta take some photos with that, so I did. Et voilà!

Yeah, it was a bit windy alright.

River Island SS10 Press Preview

This afternoon River Island on Grafton Street previewed their SS10  collection and it was all about pretty, pastel shades, neutral tones and softer takes on the current 80’s punk and Tribal themes. I know it’s way too early for us to be thinking about our Spring / Summer wardrobes but it’s still nice to know what the more on-trend high street stores will be focussing on.

The collection was pretty and floral and there were lots of embellished, fringed and distressed elements. Fabrics were softer than the luxe and sequins we saw in ’09. Think denim-jersey, linen and cotton lace for clothing and soft suede on footwear. Colours were rich beiges and pale browns with subtle greens, pinks and blues. In fact the colour palette as  a whole was pretty neutral and feminine with some bold tribal prints and edgy pieces mixed in.

I really liked these floral pillazzo pants, (above and below) …

these fringed shorts and ladder-stitch jumper would be amazing festival pieces (if I were brave enough)… Plus the peep-toe knee-high wedge-boots are fab.
