Penneys Spring Summer 2012 Preview

Hi All,

Penneys (Primark) showcased its early Spring / Summer ’12 collection last week in Dublin. It is a pretty large and varies collection, as you’d expect from Penneys; this part of the S/S’12 collection will be in store between now and late February.

It comprises some great print designs – see the (amazing) cars, Dalmatian dogs, daisies and Hawaiian panther designs below; pretty pastel shades – including a pale turquoise called ‘Seafoam’; as well as some classically tailored pieces – see the tuxedo-inspired jackets below.

A Style Post – Purple Oriental Floral Prints

Hey All,

I was at the Oasis A/W11 preview yesterday in Dublin. Oasis have joined the majority of the High Street in creating a hugely vintage-inspired collection for this Autumn / Winter.

Think 70’s sheer and metallic fabrics, midi-length dresses and knee-high boots, all in ox-blood, cerulean and mustard shades.

Think 60’s textures and prints; like Hounds-tooth and leather accents in monochrome and red.

With the appointment of a new buyer, the focus yesterday was very much about the accessories. I saw boots, biker, riding, ankle and knee-high; ballet flats in animal prints; delicious high-heeled loafers and beautifully made, classic leather handbags with pony-skin details.

I also had to try on this purple and fuchsia-pink, oriental print skirt & top outfit. (It’s limited edition and only available in the flagship stores, with 100 units of each.)

Top and Skirt, Oasis A/W 2011

Mini-bow necklace, Tesco

Shoes, Steve Madden

As for the rest of the collection:

High-heeled ox-blood loafers

Heeled loafers and ballet flats in animal prints / with horn detailing

Leather and Suede biker boots

Brown leather and pony skin bag

Black leather and pony skin bag

Rose-pink tweed suit

Check cape

Brown leather pencil skirt

Brown Crombie coat

Nike X Liberty London Summer 2011

Hey All, me again.

Opposites in fashion are rife; department stores & independent boutiques, vintage & current season, fast fashion & Haute Couture… and functional & decorative. Quite often, especially in recent seasons, these elements cross paths to create something really impressive.

Three years ago, Nike and Liberty of London collaborated on a trainer collection that resulted in a hugely successful, sell-out line, which, due to very limited (should that be exclusive?) production, pretty much no-one got to wear.

But joy, April 1st, 2011 saw the launch of a second line. Liberty have again lent their infamous, quirky, floral prints to some of Nike‘s classic trainer styles. The collection comprises 12 pairs in 5 styles, including the High Skinny Premium Dunks, Blazers, and the Air Force Ones.

Prints are mainly floral, including the abstract dandelions of the ‘Umbel‘ print and the delicate posies of ‘Tatum. However, it’s the bi-planes and Spitfires of the ‘Tom’s Jets print that floats my boat.

Though maybe it’s the shape of the shoe too, because I love the Kara’s Trees’ High Skinny Premium Dunks almost as much.

The collection launched exclusively in Liberty (April 1st) and it looks like they’re pretty much sold out already. BUT, the collection is set to launch in Office stores and various independent boutiques globally May 1st. Prices are £65-£80 so please cross your fingers I get to own a pair (and the € price isn’t too mental).

P.S. If you haven’t been to the mock Tudor magnificence that is Liberty of London, near Carnaby Street, I hope you won’t mind if I recommend it.
