NCAD 4th year Graduate Fashion Show

Hey All,

Last week I posted some promotional shots from this years National College of Art and Design (NCAD) 4th year graduate fashion show. It was held last Saturday at the stunning Royal Hospital Kilmainham, Dublin.

I went along to see the show in the afternoon, it was a pretty fashion-heavy crowd too. I spotted Stellar & Irish Tatler fashion eds, stylists like Aisling Farinella, The Sunday Business Post fashion columnist & blogger Ruth O’Connor, designers like Peter O’Brien and last year’s NCAD River Island bursary winner Sile O’Shea, as well as TV presenter, Sonya Lennon.

There were seven parts to the show, including 2nd and 3rd year students’ capsule collections; River Island denim collection, and Persil ‘Red’ competitions. As well as the 4th year Menswear, Textile, and Fashion Degree Collections. The show featured the best part of 250 pieces, so obviously I can’t post them all, but here are a couple of highlights / favourites.

3rd Year Fashion – Capsule Collections

Chain detail, (nicknamed the Jellyfish collection) from Katie Earley

Dozens more photos after the jump…

Ruched leather and soft sheer chiffon from Hannah Furlong

Clean white lines and metal ‘ribs’ from Miriam Phelan

4th Year – Textile Degree Collections

Gold details and floral prints from Julie Flynn

Brights, meanswear and monster bag (that I am craving) from Honor Scanlon

Military-inspired gold details and flowing printed silks from Jane Kenny

River Island Spring /Summer Denim Collection Winner

Design by 4th year graduate, Clairsse Walsh

River Island Bursary Presentation, by last year’s winner Sile O’Shea (left) to Clairsse Walsh (right).

4th Year – Fashion Degree Collections

White & Stripes from Gemma Daly

Tailored leather (this jacket is perfect) from Susan O’Carroll

(Front)

(Back)

Colour blocked wool from Aiofe Shiels

Feminine nudes and black from Concepta Boyce

The perfect trousers, in detail

Stunning tailoring and neon details from Keelin Cunningham

Bowler hats and winter tailoring from Aoife Conroy

Clean edges and ruffs from Clairsse Walsh

This last collection was by far my favourite. A mix between Alice in Wonderland and some bondage styling. From Mona Atkinson

If these young designers don’t make your heart sing with joy at the future of Irish fashion, then nothing will.

Yours,

Whisty Xx

11th to 18th you say? Bagging me some Jane Kenny. Absolutely stunning. Completely revitalised my faith in Irish fashion.
