National College of Art and Design student Rebecca Flanagan has won the 2009 River Island Fashion Design Bursary. She was chosen from a graduate class of 15 to receive a £3000 (€3500) bursary and a paid 3 month internship in the store’s new design studio in London. River Island said that Rebecca’s collection “represented the energetic spirit” of the company. The bursary, which was first launched in 2004, has proved to be extremely successful for aspiring Irish designers; namely Lucy Moller who won in 2006 and Anne Marie Rigney in 2007 who are both now full-time member s of the River Island design team. So hopefully we will be seeing Rebecca’s designs in-store this time next year!
