I was invited, to look at the latest collection of Hermès accessories in a beautiful Georgian house on St. Stephen Green this morning. I spent a full hour drooling at the beautiful craftsmanship of every silk scarf, leather accessory and beautifully created and insanely famous handbag that was there.
The theme for the season, given to the entire design team by the Artistic Directors at Hermès, was La Grande Évasion or The Great Escape,which ran through the collection on different levels.
Taking inspiration from travel and escape as well as aviators of the 30’s like Amelia Earhart the collection includes these amazing pieces,
…including CW from left,
Pilot Hat in Calfskin;
Collier De Chien (Dog Collar) Belt, Gainé (Sheathed) in Berénia Calfskin;
The incredible Long Necklace in Tadelakt Calfskin and Antique Effect Brass;
Collier De Chien, Bracelet Gainé in Berénia Calfskin.
Rouge leather and Tan were not the only colours in the Hermés AW09 collection, black pieces also accented the range;
…including these 12cm heeled Patent Leather Sandal with each pair is decorated with 38 miniature buckles created by a silversmith, this “Rock’n’Roll look” belk in Swift Calfskin with silvcer plated metal studs and these glazed lambskin and mink mittens. The Hermès collection is available at Brown Thomas, grafton street.
