New Look SS’13 Round Up

Hey All,

I’m sitting here covered in green clothing dye having failed to save a 50′s ball gown from the perils of mildew stains… :( Oh Vintage, you contrary vixen. As wonderful as vintage is, I do sometimes wonder why I, we, don’t just buy on the high street; it’s so much simpler.

Anyway, last week I went to the New Look SS’13 preview… Here are a few of the stand out pieces, check the lattice work / cut out leather bags, the pretty pale salmon shift, peplum dresses, hiiiiigh heels and stunning summer wedges.

Schuh Autumn / Winter 2012 Round Up

Hello,

Shoes certainly do maketh the outfit, from flats to wedge-high tops to no-heel-high heels, anything goes this autumn winter. Schuh stores are a great destination store for loads of shoe brands, I think the last footwear I bought from there were a pair of classic green Hunter Wellies. Thankfully there is far more on-trend and glamour than that in store for the coming season. Including, heels, hi tops, flats and creepers…

Heels

Black velvet and pink floral platform Lita-style boots

Studded (massive) wedges

No heel, studded high heels

Hi Tops

Pastry Buckled, studded hi tops

Nike, suede wedge hi tops

Adidas hi tops with satin bows and heart-shaped tongues

Flats

Velvet bow, patent slipper shoes

Black & White 60′s-inspired ankle boots

Gold embroidery slipper shoes

Creepers

Bronx studded metallic creepers…

Yours,

Whisty Xx

Tall Ships and Shades of Grey

Hey All,

You know sometimes when you just have a really great week? Enjoying being around genuinely good people and the like? Well that seems to have been the running theme of my week; So to all the people I ‘enjoyed’ in the last 7 days, cheers and thank you (loads!).

There was also a bit of a French theme thrown in as well. Bastille Day was Wednesday so that might have something to do with it. Anyway, I went to see The Concert on Monday; good grief that is one heck of a film. Melanie Laurent (Shoshanna Dreyfus, Inglourious Basterds) is in it. Nuff said? Yeah, nuff said. If you don’t mind subtitles and Tchaikovsky have a think about seeing this one on the big screen. It ‘s beautiful.

I also went to the French Market by the Samuel Beckett Bridge. I saw the bridge for the first time about a fortnight ago and I was actually dumbfounded. I love it. I was like, I gotta take some photos with that, so I did. Et voilà!

Yeah, it was a bit windy alright.

Two days, Two outfits, One hat.

Dear Readers,

I wore my Hunter wellies the last two days and I have to say I really liked it. Puddles pah! No match for my rubberised feet! I’ve had enough now though… Sunshine please come back!

So the bank holiday was fun, of course. I wore this Trilby a lot. I was surprised by how many outfits it goes with and how it changes an entire look. The hat’s the thing it seems.

I was watching the Buddy Holly story and I remembered this 50′s style, vintage (80′s) tea-dress that I asked my Mum to alter for me. The sleeves came off, there was a big bow in the front and some massive shoulder pads that were hastily removed, and it was about a foot longer originally. It’s thrifted and cost about €8, I added the belt to cinch in the waist to give it a bit more shape.

The bracelet on my left arm is actually a belt that I found in a charity shop. The sunglasses in the first pictures are my “Deirdre Barlows” from Dunnes.

Deep Seeded Urban Decay

OR, Sunsets and Smocks

Dear Readers,

Today started off warm but cloudy; by lunchtime though all the clouds had gone, and so had these socks funnily enough.

I took the photos earlier but I kinda wish I had waited. Because the clouds had dissolved the sunset was really pretty. It would have been lovely to get the photos with that, though the clouds were great anyway.

I actually bought the tunic a couple of sizes too big so it would have more of a dress feel to it. Though I have to wear shorts with it anyway so I guess it kind of defeats the object. It was definitely a great purchase, I wear it all the time and it goes with so much of my wardrobe.

The background’s pretty grimy, a bit “Deep Seeded Urban Decay”, but the dress and the clouds are pretty enough to balance out the photographs.

Zara gets Clogged up

Since the last post on clogs, I’ve been asked lots of times when clogs are landing in-store. The answer is various dates over the next two months. I was in Zara on King Street, (Dublin) yesterday, however, and it seems that the Spanish store has got there first. And with about 20 different styles in brown and black ranging from around €80 – €120. Here are a few that I managed to get snaps of. I’d probably go for one of the style that has a rubber sole, you can’t beat a bit of extra grippage!

On anther note, I reeeeealy have to have these (below). I always think compared to traditional black, brown is a more summery colour for shoes and these peep toe wedges with brogue detailing and laces will be mine!
