Juno Temple for ASOS Magazine

Hello all,

I hope you’re good!

Juno Temple is on the cover of this month’s ASOS magazine. In a mix of winter coats; a fur-trimmed oversized hooded Parka, Marni‘s Houndstooth crombi-style coat with jewelled collars and a longline brown military maxi coat, styled up with sharp leather and cool prints. The cover shot in the House of Holland striped Raglan dress being particularly special.

Juno Temple gives an positive, breezy insight into how a girl from Somerset manages to make Hollywood feel like home. ‘It was an adventure. I’ve always thought that an adventure is something that, if it tickles your toes a little bit, then you should go with it. And I like it out here… I never thought I’d say this, because I love rain, but actually waking up to sunshine does wonders for your brain.”

Her attitude to shopping is pretty rad to; “I’m a really good shopper, I don’t question things, If I like something, then I’m taking it home. It just come to a moment where it’s 20 bucks in a thrift store for a one-of-a-kind thing. You should relish those moments of finding amazing pieces. I just don’t think people should walk away from those things.

But, as far as her career is concerned, whether she’s playing the flirtatious Lola Quincey opposite Benedict Cumberbatch, in Atonement, or starring as the ‘Dirty Girl’ in the film of the same name, it is this she is most passionate about. “I love it, I don’t want to stop, ever. I’m going to fight for it as long as possible”.

If you haven’t seen Dirty Girl yet, it’s worth a watch if you like a quirky, independent movies that are coming of age, road movies set in the 80′s. Clip…

Posted on RTÉ: 4 Season’s in 1 Day Weather!

Hello All,

Here’s a little something I made earlier… RTÉ‘s on-line youth channel TwoTube asked me to give a few hints and tips on how to dress for all season’s in a day and still look good…

Summer in the morning, autumn in the evening, winter at suppertime?!?

The current meteorological trend of four-seasons-in-one-day-weather means that we keep getting caught out in the wrong clothes. Here are Whisty’s tips on how to dress for all seasons in one day, and still look stylish.

• Shorts or a short skirt (Ruffle Yellow Skirt, Topshop £32)
• Over the knee socks (Grey Knitted Socks, River Island £8)
• Ankle boots (Hi Top Metallic Wedges, Penneys €18)
• A big scarf (rummage in your wardrobe for an old favourite)
• Shades (Heart Burn Out Lens Sunglasses, ASOS £15)

Aviator Shearling Boots & a Parka

Hey All,

So the bank holiday proved nothing spectacular, weather-wise. Rain however, is a great excuse to try transitional trends and the new season must haves, right? I was totally smitten with the Burberry Prorsum Shearling boots  at the AW10 shows (who wasn’t). And have waited to see the trend trickle through to the High Street. So as soon as I saw these 5-buckle brown River Island ones, I knew they would be my winter staple footwear. I love them and they’re super-comfy too.

I turned the tops down and kept the top two buckles open, I think it looks more casual.

My Festival Essential? – A Parka

Dear Readers,

Like something that’s meant to be – a few things came together today.

1. The wettest weekend music celebrations known to man; AKA the UK / Ireland festival season, started this weekend, with Download at Donington Park.

2. This prompted someone to ask me what my one, single festival essential was, for a magazine survey*.

3. I tried this frikkin amazing parka on in River Island this afternoon.

and 4. I just got back from watching the new Noel Clarke film, 4.3.2.1. In which Shannon, played by Ophelia Lovibond wears a similar parka.

*Naturally then, my answer was, “why, a Parka of course”. I have decided that I need one of these in my life; especially for hanging around, drinking and dancing in fields. Wearing it with Hunters, cut-offs and a few layers on top will do the job. The River Island one is lined with something to make it warmer and I’m thinking, if I manage to ‘loose’ my tent, this coat will easily double up as a sleeping bag. It’s huge too.

If you’re unconvinced by my converse / Parka combination, here’s a few looks for real inspiration:

Trendtastic-ny.com – (a bit short but loving the leather trousers / parka combo)

Kate Beckinsale

Rihanna – Teaming Aran knits with hers

The 4.3.2.1. Girls with Shannon in her Parka

The ultimate Parka – as worn by Jimmy in Quadrophenia

Xx
