Gary Oldman – An Ode.

The latest post-apocalyptic movie, The Book of Eli, was released here last week. It stars Denzel Washington as Eli and Gary Oldman as his Nemesis, Carnegie.

I think the general consensus is, that they are two incredible actors but today I’m concentrating on Gary Oldman because the man can do no wrong in my eyes. The scarier the better if you ask me – he takes bad guys from the slightly unnerving, Sirius Black in Harry Potter, to the positively nauseating Mason Verger in Hannibal. (Forgive me for not posting pics from that). However, I have posted a few photos from some of his other movies (and a couple of token editorial shoots), just to show how utterly versatile he is.

Get Emma Watson’s Teen Vogue Look

Of all the shoots we saw of Emma Watson on the run-up to the release of HP6 her Teen Vogue shoot was the most dramatic and awe inspiring. The combination of the shoots setting, the props – (the miniature ponies esp.) – and the amazing, eclectic styling, (Go team Teen Vogue!) came together to create an iconic spread.

So I was looking at the Topshop AW09 collections and they have pieces that look like they are straight out of the shoot! This amazing structured skirt, leopard print tights and corsage filled pic is perfect for a ‘Get the Look for Less. Vogue chose a D&G Victoriana blouse and the skirt is Erin Fetherston, Whisty’s blog went for Topshop, Accessorize, BooHoo.com, Oasis and A. Rubanesque.

Ginny gets Grazia

Make no bones about it, this blog is a fan of Emma Watson’s style but it seems that her co-star and friend, Bonnie Wright, AKA Ginny Weasley, is also a budding contender in the style stakes. This weeks Grazia has featured the young actress in a moody and super stylish four page spread in the mag. I grabbed a copy today and am seriously impressed, the 18 year old showed her classic, understated style at the recent HP6, UK and US premiers wearing Miu Miu and Prada respectively. Of her fashion choices she says, “I wanted two totally different looks, Miu Miu is more of a fun, London, fashion-forward idea and for New York it was more elegant.” Speaking to Grazia she also confessed, “It took me such a long time to decide what to wear”.

She also chats about what it is like growing up with the cast and crew of Harry Potter and what her ambitions are after the final scene has been filmed. She comes across as unguarded and genuine in the interview and at 18, that’s exactly how she should come across.

Evanna Lynch Attends Irish Harry Potter 6 Premiere

Pretty Louth lady Evanna Lynch attended the Irish Premiere of the much anticipated Harry Potter 6 AKA Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, yesterday. The movie was premiered at the Savoy Cinema on O’Connell street and hundreds of fans turned out to get a glimpse of the 17 year old Irish actress.

She was accompanied on the Red Carpet, by Matthew Lewis who plays clumsy Neville Longbottom, a Gryffindor with a knack for Herbology. He wore a smart grey suit and she wore a gorgeous Sonia Rykiel dress from BT2. While on the red carpet the pair signed autographs and posed for pics before heading inside to watch the movie.

This is only the second movie that she has starred in; the first was The Order of the Phoenix. Evanna plays “Loony” Luna Lovegood in the magical movies and is a self confessed huge Harry Potter fan. While attending the world premiere of the movie in London last week, she was asked how she managed to keep so grounded. To which she replied, “If you come from a place called Termonfeckin, you can’t really get airs and graces!”

Last night, Evanna Lynch attended the Irish Premiere of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince at the Savoy Cinema on O’Connell street, accompanied by Matthew Lynch. The pair, who play “Loony” Luna Govegood and Neville Longbottom in the smash-hit movies, mingled with fans and signed autographs. Read more here.

HP6 Premiere: Reports see Emma Watson go old school

Darn that English weather! The Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince premier was more wet carpet than red carpet because just as the stars arrived, the heavens opened. The heavy rain certainly didn’t dampen the spirits as the fans dressed as Quidditch players screamed and chanted as they had autographs signed. Most of the cast got drenched, including Emma Watson who stole the show like a true A-Lister wearing an amazing 1970’2 Ossie Clark vintage chiffon dress. The now, leading lady teamed the dress with a simple double red headband and some amazing gold heels.

Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint gadded about gleefully ignoring the downpour and with the former positively excitable. He took an age to walk up and down the press area, as did a number of other actors, flitting back and forth to speak to as many of the waiting press as possible. The Phelps twins looked handsome and t-ALL with James Phelps revealing that he spent most of the time whilst making this movie behind the camera! OOOh new career alert! 1 week to go…!

Emma Watson at HP6 Countdown Press Call

A quick taster for the sartorial wonders Emma Watson will be donning for the premieres I wonder? Today in London the actress who plays Hermione Granger along with her Hogwarts classmates attended a press photocall. Ms Watson again showing that you can be both youthful and stylish, looked as fab as usual wearing this Proenza Schouler Resort 2010 dress and platform pale grey Giuseppe Zanotti sandals.

Teen Vogue and the English Rose… Emma Watson Style

Emma Watson is continuing her whirlwind tour of international fashion magazines looking nothing less than like the exquisite English rose that she is. The latest magazine to have Ms Watson grace its front cover is Teen Vogue as part of a shoot they are calling Emma Enchanted. Photographed at this beautiful stately home in England, the actress wore a fabulous array of pieces from the AW09 catwalks including D&G and Burberry Prorsum among others.

Emma Watson  really is one of the most fabulous young women in the media to style-watch. Her obvious passion for clothes and her specific tastes always seem to come out in which ever magazine she is being shot for. This Teen Vogue one though, for me at least, seems to sum-up the actresses media persona. A video on the Teen Vogue website from the shoot sees Emma explain that she’s a big fan of the mag. Talk about grown up, Miss Watson has just been photographed by none other than Mario Testino for Burberry’s AW09/10 collection ad campaign.

Christopher Bailey Creative Director of Burberry said of their new muse, “Having known and admired the lovely Emma Watson for quite some time, she was the obvious choice for this campaign, who, like the images she fronts, has a classic beauty, a great character and a modern edge. Harry Potter Countdown Begins with Emma Watson Style

With just over a month to go until it’s release, (July 15th), the next Harry Potter movie is gradually slipping back into our consciousness. For me it was the pics of Emma Watson (who plays Hermione Granger) looking nothing but utterly stylish at a Rodarte party in London this week. Going against a sea of other guests wearing the very on-trend but very safe nude / pale shades or monochrome, Emma wore this Rodarte dress with an electric blue ‘sash’. I like it, she has experimented and tried something different from her usual Chanel style (which I adore) plus the colours really suit her. The different textures of the dress and the embellishments work really well in contrast to her natural, simple hair and make-up.

In case you didn’t see them before I’ve posted images from the shoot when Karl Lagerfeld photographed Emma Watson for French publication Crash Magazine. The photographs are incredible, for the most part Emma Watson looks great, if a little odd with white eyebrows!
