Sparkling Summer Trend

I don’t know about you but I couldn’t be happier that sequins are absolutely everywhere this season. I love them, they are super luxe and super 80′s, in a Michelle Pfeiffer in Scarface kind of way.

So distressed am I that I wasn’t able to find a pic of her looking like the ice queen she was in this movie, while wearing sequins, I’m posting these too, with no sequins but you totally get the look.

But it is sequins that we’re looking at and furthermore, this seasons sequins. It seems that all over Europe these tiny circles of shiny metal are twinkling their way along the red carpet; Elizabeth Banks wore this amazing navy sequined full-length Andrew Gn (AW09) gown at Cannes this week, imagine wearing a gown that exactly matches the colour of your eyes, lucky devil!

The red carpet was awash with red, white and blue last night at the 62nd annual film fest. The opening night saw, models and actresses turned out in their sparkling refinery proving that this red carpet was a recession-free zone.

In the red corner:

Actresses Elizabeth Banks kept it old school Hollywood glamour in an asymmetric Armani Privé dress and Tilda Swinton wowed in a deep red Haider Ackermann outfit, straight off the catwalk.

Wowing in the white corner:

Beautiful actress Aishwayra Rai stole the show in this Roberto Cavalli masterpiece with train while French TV presenter Daphne Roulier kept it sleek and classy in a white sleeveless ensemble and black trilby-style hat.

And finally in the blue corner:

Model Alessia Piovan wore a gorgeous Alberta Ferretti with intricate skirt detailing while Actress Shu Qi blinged out her simple but stunning turquoise Roberto Cavalli with a fierce necklace.
