Next Season Now? This season now…

… & Warehouse A/W’12 Collection Round Up

Hi All,

I often debate whether or not I should post images from new season previews immediately or wait 6 moths for the appropriate season, when we can be inspired properly.

No sooner is there is a hint of mild weather and we’re considering ditching the opaques for summer, than I’m writing and posting about what trends are going to big while we warm up for the following winter. Besides, until we actually get there, we can’t possibly know what we’ll want to buy. How many times have I looked at next season’s trends, picking out my favourite pieces only to find that when the time comes, I change my mind. (Remember the aviator / shearling trend A/W’10?)

Fashion weeks SS’13 have the internet hash-tag happy at the moment, but al I want to do is throw myself into buying clothes that I can wear right now. If you follow my twitter @whistyblogs or my FB page then you may have seen my new Kurt Geiger black suede winter boots; the foundation to my A/W’12 wardrobe.

This season’s trends; printed trousers/trouser suits, embellishments, Baroque etc… can be found in pretty much all the high street stores, including Warehouse right now.

These are a few of my favourite pieces from the collection:

Revel in Roberto Cavalli at Milan Fashion Week AW10/11

I had a fantastic afternoon completely indulging myself in Dublin fashion, (see tomorrow’s post) but not before I spent the morning perusing photo’s from the collections shown in Italy this week. On a more specific note, namely this pair of gold printed trousers… Over-here please, I think you’ll find I ordered them, waitress!

On any other occasion, velvet waistcoats, animal-prints, fringed scarves, brocade jackets and billowing fabrics, may sound like the contents of your grandmother’s closet (I’m using that word because I think it sounds better in this context than ‘wardrobe’). It was, in fact, Roberto Cavalli‘s AW10/11 collection show, at Milan Fashion Week yesterday. A collection that was actually far from anything my grandmother would wear and one of the most relaxed Cavilli collections I’ve seen. Known usually for ultra-feminine pieces that are at home on the red carpet, this collection will look more at home on the street. Though, said street would naturally be in Florence or Rome rather than rainy old Dublin, of course.

His multi-layered, multi-textured looks were created from what looked like the most luxuriant fabrics and embellishments. I loved the use of Navy-blue and sleek black silhouettes in shows during London Fashion Week and Roberto Cavalli produced similar looks. Although his palette was more varied; not only in his use of gold braid and brocade, but also by including softer colours, like light greys, winter nudes and the odd flash of something richer, like deep, burnt-orange. It’s a beautiful collection and again the dark blacks and blues are what grabbed my attention. I will be thinking tailored, dévoré velvet jackets and lots (more) scarves for this autumn/winter.
