Inspired by Post – Be Blonde

Hey all,

So after the summer ’12 inspired fashion post on Wednesday, I reckon it’s time I looked at summer hair. I want to go blonder, not screen-siren structured blonde. I mean more California blonde, that perfect clean, surf-y, fresh kind of blonde.  Hair that hasn’t seen a curling iron or straightners, (or at least doesn’t look like it has), hair that is blonde from root to tip, naturally sun-bleached or otherwise, as long as it is blonde, not ombre blonde.

Simple, brilliant, stunning blonde.

Family Affair: The Gainsbourgs. et al.

Hey All,

Happy Friday and happy loooong bank holiday weekend!

So today sees the ‘general’ release of Gainsbourg. A movie about the French singer-slash-songwriter-slash-actor-slash-director, Serge Gainsbourg.

The movie focuses on his life including his song writing (see Je t’aime among others). It also looks at his personal life; when famously, after a couple of previous marriages, and a brief affair with Brigitte Bardot, Serge Gainsbourg, married the delectable Jane Birkin; with whom he had Charlotte Gainsbourg.

Birkin, however, left Gainsbourg after a several years. She then met and married another Frenchman; film director, Jaques Doillon. Together they had the fantastique Lou Doillon. Who’s style I am crushing hard on. The girl has a penchant for hats, skulls, leather, short-shorts and tight trousers among other things, of course I’m crushing.

I’m posting a bunch of photographs of all 4 of the above mentioned women and Serge, just to scroll through and be inspired by…

Terry O’Neill Photography Exhibition Opens in Kildare Village

Last night, in Kildare Village, a temporary photography exhibition opened, featuring the work of photographer Terry O’Neill, spanning his whole career. A career that took off in the ’60′s when he photographed the most celebrated figures in the entertainment industry including; the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Brigitte Bardot (left) Orson Wells and Audrey Hepburn, (among many others). He not only captured these icons in a thought-provoking and poignant way, but also in a way that focused on their natural, individual style. Turning him from a mere rock photographer into a legendary celebrity artist in his own time.

The exhibition called Intimate, is free and running until January 2010 prints of all the images featured in the exhibition are also available to buy from the gallery space. If you do decide to go along, be prepared to be in awe. Terry O’Neill’s candid images capture the true beauty of every actress, musician and model he photographs. Included in the exhibition are a series of colour and B&W photographs he took in 1977. The images (see below) of actress Faye Dunaway lounging beside a pool in the Beverly Hill Hotel, are probably his most well-known. They were taken the morning after she won the Oscar for Best Actress for the film Network. He has also shot covers for Vogue and his iconic images have graced the covers of many magazines around the world.
