Hello!
Just in case you didn’t hear, the first of my monthly columns in the Metro Herald was published yesterday, I’ve added a few images.
I wrote about whether or not I should be revisiting a trend that I remember (though never bought into) from the 90′s.

They say you should never go back to a trend if you remember it the first time round. I remember the 1990s. I remember Britpop and Grunge, even though I was too young to go to a Nirvana concert. I also remember buying Vogue for the first time during the 90s. I spent hours poring over the pages graced with the glamorous images of supermodels like Cindy, Naomi, Linda, et al.
With Gianni at the helm, the one fashion brand that was synonymous with ’90s glamour was Versace, specifically its baroque prints. you know the ones, the bold, gold, over-the-top designs with ropes, chains and ornate picture frames, swirled around brash animal print and polka dots.
When the H&M X Versace collection came out at the end of last year, it reignited my love for the baroque print. So I was delighted to discover that these brash prints are back in a massive way for spring/summer 2012; and it isn’t just Versace doing them this time either. Everyone from D&G to River Island to Primark / Penneys is in on the trend. From skirts to shoes, jackets to jumpsuits, the high street has embraced the trend wholeheartedly, even giving their designs names like ‘Donatella’ or ‘scarf-print’.
Had my school-girl wallet been able to afford the ’90s Versace version of baroque prints, then maybe I wouldn’t be embracing the trend this time around. But having already indulged in a Versace style leather belt – think that dress of Liz hurley fame, all Medusa heads and gold chain details (versions seen here on Christy Turlington and Naomi Campbell) –
I think I’m ready to go all out for the prints. I’ll start from the feet up and go with these red and baroque-print wedges from Penneys / Primark then, I’m gonna with River Island’s Alessandro blouse. I think I’ll wear it with neon-pink jeans, or if I’m really going for the ’90s look, cycling shorts and a bum-bag… NOT!!
