When the Sartorialist came to Dublin

Blathnaid by the Sartorialist… and this is why the man is in Vogue.

Arguably the most renown fashion blogger on the planet, The Satorialist, real name, Scott Schuman, was in Dublin last Friday for a book signing, – his book is also called The Sartorialist – and reception at Harvey Nichols.

It seems the man who put Street Style on the fashion map, took time out to take photographs in Dublin. Including this beautiful picture of Blathnaid.

I love that he captured what most people would see as quintessentially Irish characteristics, in a subtle and elegant way. It’s not just that the man has an incredible eye for fashion but he is a brilliant maker of portraits. Blathnaid’s pale, porcelain skin and freckles, green / blue eyes and pretty auburn hair colour are off-set perfectly against the simple, dark green background and jazzy dress.

Scott gave a very brief talk at The Gallery of Photography in Temple Bar before the book signing. According to designer Helen James, he spoke about why he takes photographs, what interests him about his subjects and why he takes photographs.

You can buy The Sartorialist for €21.99 from Dubray Books.
