I Heart my New Old Brogues.

New Old Brogues 2 Lo resAren’t mother’s just the best thing since sliced bread? Having read my post last week about my flat shoe dilemma – that being that I absolutely have to get a pair of traditional Irish Brogues – my darling mother gave me her old pair…

You see, the problem was that although there are dozens of pairs available on the high street at the moment, the pair I really wanted are €90 from Office. And as much as I adored their perfect burgundy-red leather and the fact that they are called Frank Sinatra, I just couldn’t justify spending that much money on them. So seeing my predicament, Mum mentioned that she used to wear a pair in the late 80′s early 90′s… and oh how delighted I was when she gave them to me. Not only were they my size, but they were also just worn enough that the leather had softened at the crease by the toes.

To make the gift even more perfect, they are vintage Topshop… Hey Mum, why so cool?

Merci Beaucoup, Maman, I will treasure them forever. x
