A school of Style-Fish

Style Fish LogoI just signed up to the Style Fish course starting in Dublin next Thursday (Sept. 10th). Basically it is a 7 week course that promises to educate me on “Body Shape, Colouring, Make-up Lessons, Hair Styling, and Personal Shopping”.

I’m excited, I’ve never been to anything like this before. The lessons are only held once a week, lasting 2 hours and they are promising to show me everything from how to apply make-up and test products to how do my hair to suit my face shape and a load of other stuff. Plus (and this I’m really looking forward to) I also get a full colour analysis where I find my “wow” colours and “receive personalised colour swatches”, then learn how to “build colour capsules” with these colours.

Whenever I see this on TV I always want to have a go; it looks really inspiring. No matter how open minded one is about fashion there are always colours that I think will never suit me and so automatically steer clear of. I never wear lime green, (apparently traditional Irish skin colouring and lime-green pieces are a definite no no!). Still, you never can tell, it could the best “wow” colour on me ever… I shall keep you posted. p.s. Wish me luck, I’m going for an A1!

Two lots of lessons run from September 10th – October 29th and November 5th – December 16th and each course costs €299 which is about 42 quid a lesson, basically a bargain!

Irish designer Jewellery

Laura Caffrey Silver Link Bracelet

As a respite from yesterday’s bargain binging, I dropped into the Irish Design Shop on Bow Lane (opposite the entrance to Stephen’s Green shopping centre car park). I was chatting to the ladies there and they told me they had just put up their jewellery lightbox. It’s small but perfectly formed from an old ammo crate with a frosted glass top, very classic / contemporary.

But it was the jewellery, by Laura Caffrey, on top of the box that really caught my eye, especially this bracelet. It’s hand made (apparently it took quite a while) from 17 different segments that are hinged together. It’s a beautiful, statement piece.

Whenever I think of hand-made jewellery I always think of school fetes and beading. Well, I think with this bracelet, Laura Caffrey certainly told me, for which I am very grateful. Maybe if I wasn’t so spendthrift with my bargain binges,  I would be able to invest in such gorgeous pieces…

More A|wear Discounts!

AWear 20 precent discount

A|wear are seriously pushing their fabulous new AW09 collection. This time it’s 20% off on-line shopping with the Closer Magazine reader offer. The code is on the A|wear website as well as in the magazine.

If you have yet to see the new collection, do have a browse as it is definitely one of the strongest that they have created. They have key pieces inspired by many of the season’s hottest trends and designers, as well as some seriously fierce and seriously feminine themes.

This dress is €40 in-store, the cardi is €35 and the necklace €10, so if you bought them with the discount you’d save €17. (Yes, I have a calculator too!).
