Sheer Genius

Ever since I saw Leighton Meester in that amazing Emilio De La Morena sheer dress on the red carpet at the MTV Movie awards I can’t get enough of the sheer stuff.

Fergie, in Alexander Wang, Megan Fox, in Herve Leroux and Blake Lively have all succumbed to the power of the mesh, in a delightful array of subtly sexy dresses and accessorising flowing locks and statement heels to add edginess to their on-trend looks.

The key to wearing sheer mesh is to make it black like these ladies, even this super feminine white Roberto Cavalli dress Blake Lively is wearing has a gorgeous black mesh in the back.

Christina Ricci at Bruno LA Premiere

I just have to mention the classic, understated beauty of Christina Ricci at the LA premiere of Bruno. I love his look, it’s so simple, a dark grey dress, (Opening Ceremony) black heels, (Lanvin) and little hint of glitz with the skinny gold belt.

The actress, who has strong Irish roots, will star in New York, I Love You, which is set for release in October this year. The movie has an ensemble cast including, Orlando Bloom, Shia LeBeouf, Natalie Portman and about 100 other A Listers!  The movie is an anthology of 11 different love stories made into 11 short films of about 10 mins each.

River Island Gets Fierce in AW09

River Island are set to hold a press day this week to preview their AW09 collection…  Here is a sneak preview, and I don’t know about you but I reckon that there are some seriously fierce pieces in there. Ripped to the Max

If you are going to go ripped this season, then you have to really tear it up…

A little scuff around a pocket or two just isn’t going to cut it I’m afraid, you need to rip it up like Balmain SS09 and buy jeans that have rips and scuffs along the entire leg length. The best jean shapes to go for are skinny or straight leg. To transcend the seasons try wearing lacy tights underneath the jeans so the lace will show through the rips and holes as the weather get chillier.

Jimmy Choo AW09 Preview

Jimmy Choo arrived in Dublin this morning; at least its reps did anyway, to showcase their new AW09 collection to the Dublin media.

Exclusive to Brown Thomas and exclusive to Ireland are these two boots made with Donegal Tweed. The riding boot is made with the softest leather enabling it to age and become unique to the wearer. The bootie has a blue Donegal Tweed lining, the top of which can be turned down to give slouchy look. These boots will only be available in Ireland which is pretty darn amazing!

Topshop Gets Kaned

Topshop aren’t releasing any press pics for the Christopher Kane for Topshop collection yet, but there is always the one plucky journo who is willing to risk a snap or two…

Topshop held a press day in Dublin last week to showcase the collection where the hi-glamour collection included plenty of pretty but edgy pieces. The collection, said to echo his main line AW09 collection, is embellishment heaven with everything from metal eyelets (see the leather bag) to lace, from over-sized Gems to mirrors and fine black gauze.

Itching to Shop?

Dublin’s next Fleamarket is to be held this Sunday, June 28^th at the usual spot, The Coop, Newmarket, D8. The market is the monthly home of some rather fab people selling, as they put it, “a bizarre bazaar of vintage clothing, bric-a-brac and what-not’s.

To celebrate and promote the event they have had another psychedelic poster created, this time by Steve McCarthy, I love it!
