As soon as the catwalk shots were out for the Chanel RTW Fall 09 collection, I had fallen in love with the gorgeous lace cuffs that were massive in the show. I know that Chanel had done similar cuffs before in 06 and these were fierce enough:

but the latest versions are even more fabulous darling!

I decided to make my own version…read on to see how
I headed down to The Woollen Mills Trimmings department on the north quays just by h’apenny bridge and bought some ribbon and lace and set to work making my very own Chanel-style lace cuffs.

I bought 1m of black satin ribbon €0.85 and white lace €2.20, why change the colour scheme of a genius like Lagerfeld?
I cut both lengths in two and sewed a running stitch through the lace pieces so that I was able to gather each of them to make them the correct length to go around my sleeves. I then stitched the satin ribbon in 5 places and left ends of the ribbon at either end of the lace as so.

I decided not to attach the cuffs to any particular jacket or top so that I will be able to wear them on various outfits or even on their own as bracelet cuffs.
My favourite way to wear them though is with a tiny bow on a plain black jacket, yummy…

American Trimmings company M&J Trimmmings have a great version of how to do something similar and thier blog is as incredible as their store I was in, in New York. It’s like a giant treasure trove of trimmings with the friendliest staff in the world.

I Love it! I will be robbing this look and sporting it around town! I’ll give your blog credit though
Yay, do! Best to invest in a bit of starch to stop the lace going droopy and turning you into a 18th century dandy tho!
Great idea! Thank you for sharing! I got some lace already, so I’ll go get some black ribbon
