Exquisite and incredible, these lace and pearl peep-toe Nicholas Kirkwood shoes just broke my heart…
approx. €700 Browns Fashion (delivery to Ireland for approx. €25)

Update: Fashion-foward Brit singer Estelle wore this exact pair at the Glamour Awards in London this week, she rocked the amazing shoes with an Awesome Stella McCartney dress. I love this lady’s style.

Now a fashion icon in his own right, Rankin has photographed some of the most iconic figures in the world; From Madonna, the queen of pop to HRH, the Queen of England, from Kate Moss to Heidi Klum. Today sees the launch of a special exhibition of photographs Rankin took when he travelled to a refugee camp in Eastern Congo with Oxfam Ireland. The images are a reflection of the lives and attitudes of the people who have survived the conflict there. The Exhibition is called Cheka Kidogo which is Swahili for Laugh a Little and is on show in Wolfe Tone Park until the end of July.
Here’s the pic, the only thing I need to add is that it costs €12… race you!
F&F at Tesco.
What is it about grey days that make you feel grey? I just got dressed and I’ve realised that everything and I mean everything I put on is grey… All different shades of course, but from my cardi to my trousers and even my shoes and underwear are all bloomin’ grey! With no time to change into something new, I know exactly what is needed in this kind of fashion emergency, something that will cheer this drab look up… one of these bright pink scarves! Clock-wise from top:

Zebra Print Scarf approx. €12 New Look, Pink Jersey Tassel Scarf approx. €15 Miss Selfridge, Lurex Boarder Wool Scarf approx. €45 Oasis, Fluorescent Pink Jersey Scarf approx. €25 Topshop…And the winner is… I think the brilliant florescence of the Topshop scarf has “banish grey day blues” written all over it!

Dublin’s ethical fashion elite, re-dress et al. began a week of awareness generation and jolly good fun today with Ethical Fashion Week 2009. I’m afraid I’m simply going to have to take part in Crafternoon Tea a series of workshops, designed to teach attendees design skills like embroidery, knitting and most importantly for me, basic alterations! For a full list of events or to find out more click www.fashionevolution.info
I’ve come to the conclusion today during this small spate of warmer weather that we ladies, don’t wear enough skirts. I love ‘em; they are bastions of femininity and are made for wearing high heels. I also love the fact that there are so many different types and styles so that no matter what the seasons trends are there is always the perfect skirt to create the look.
I had the pleasure of going through the latest collections at River Island last week. Even though I know they always have a fantastic amount of choice every season I am surprised just how much. Speaking of my passion for skirts, here is just a teeny sample of the River Island range…

Whether you choose on-trend colour blocking or classic monochrome; high-waisted and knee length or super short; tulip, cocoon or lantern; there’s no better reason to get those pins out!

Cassie and Effy, or Hannah Murray and Kaya Scodelario to give them their real names, sparkled like the rising stars they are on the red carpet the BAFTA award ceremony in London last night. Both looked gorgeous in their shimmery sequined Collette Dinnigan dresses as skins won the Audience Award (voted for by the public). Kaya’s pearlescent dress was perfectly highlighted with black opaque tights, Hannah’s silver number matched with light grey opaques. The actresses are so on-trend with their relaxed cool and effortlessly pretty looks, showing older TV stars that bottles of fake tan and over coiffed hair are just so passé.

Get the look from the high street:

All Saints in BT2 (Grafton Street / Blanchardstown) have this edgy metal sequined Dominika dress in gold approx. €299; and look at the zip detail in the back, delish.

This amazing Masa halter neck dress is from House of Fraser, approx. €250 the front is lovely, the back is incredible! Perfect for any red carpet!
Incidently if your budget can stretch to a Collette Dinnigan number, you lucky thing, their Dublin stockist is Costume, 10 Castle Market, D2. Tel: 01 679 4188
In the days when the low-rise, boot-cut was the only jean to wear I was always a little non-experimental with my jean choices. I used to find a great brand that had jeans that fit me well and then stick with them and that was it. It’s all changed now though, what with the dozens of styles colours and shapes to choose from, it would be impossible to choose just one style; just ask the celebs:
The Skinny:

Only ever to be worn accompanied with killer heels by us mere mortals with less than lean thighs; so therefore never ever with flats…Kate Beckinsale and Megan Fox are rocking theirs with laid back accessories, Megan’s royal blue skinnies look totally Californian with this sweet trilby, aviators, quirky cardi and HUGE wedges. Kate rocks her indigo skinnies with big shades, monochrome scarf and chunky sling backs.
High Street Skinnies:

Dark Wash Skinny Jeans Dorothy Perkins approx. €35 / Open Zip Skinny Jean Lipsy approx. €50
The Flare:

Classic flares worn to the floor to make their legs look super long; not that Gisele Bundchen needs any help there. I love the way she has kept this look so simple, the fitted light grey sweater, a cute black leather jacket tucked over her bag and topped with a sleek pony. While Penelope Cruz dresses hers up for a dinner date; again though, keeping it simple with a plain white tee and fitted black jacket. Not sure about the “I’m not a celeb baseball cap” though, come on Pen, we wanna see that gorge face of yours!
High Street Flares:
Dusty Blue skinny flare Jeans Dorothy Perkins approx. €40 / Skinny Flare Jean Whistles approx. €80
The Boyfriend:

It’s super laid back and casual and now I’m a total convert of this style, the boyfriend jean is absolutely perfect for slinging on with flip flops or flats and spending sunny Sundays in a beer garden or hanging out in the city. Audrina Patridge has kept hers totally chilled with a baggy off the shoulder top, trilby (again? hmmm mini trend I wonder?) and flip flops. With her feminine, elfin looks Winona Ryder can get away with this masculine influenced look, the boyf jeans with a check shirt, boyish flats and a military style jacket.
High Street Boyfriend Jeans:

Boyfriend Jeans New Look approx. €28 / Tall Harper Jeans Topshop approx. €60
